the night before four

As usual Lucy's birthday comes around at a very busy time for us as a family.  Everyone is starting back at school, and life gets more hectic and everyone is a little more tired and worn out.  In preparation for her disco dance party tomorrow I took Lucy to the store with me tonight to spend some quality time and for her to make some choices about birthday treats and snacks.  She was jovial, singing, laughing and goofing around the whole time.  She said things like, "Mom...(totally serious face) I need to talk to you about... tarantulas.  Fer real I saw one on the playground today.",  "I like this toilet paper but it is only for boys (it was Brawny brand)."  and she started belting out "Rain, rain, go away, little Lucy wants to play." I watched many eyes turn towards her and watched as smiles made their way across the faces of strangers, it was a beautiful thing.  Lucy is a baby doll loving, talkative, goofy, little lady, that adores being wrestled, tickled and manhandled by uncles, cousins, Papas and daddies.  She is full of personality and I am lucky to be her Mama!  Happy Birthday to the little one that will always be my baby!
