Today I was so busy I hardly had time to think about what I was doing eight years ago today, but now as I sit to reflect about how much has changed and how Izzy has changed our lives, I am able to smile and think happy thoughts.
Izzy in a nutshell: She has empathy for others and animals to the point of being a vegetarian and being disgusted by the sight of meat. She has eaten pita chips, hummus, yogurt, veggies and fruit every day in her lunch this year. She would probably never leave the house if we didn't make her. She is creative and symmetrical. She builds and rebuilds Lego villages, homes, and classrooms to reflect her biggest passion, Harry Potter. She is a witch obsessed with the powers of good and evil and how they play out in the epic series. She squeals with delight, or runs around in fear while listening to the stories being read aloud to her. She builds magnificent fairy houses built for a fairy princess. She lays in bed at night reading aloud and practicing her favorite books. She sleeps in a loft that she shares with many stuffed animals draped in her pajamas. By day, she busies herself at school with math, math and more math. She loves numbers, long division with the bead boards and much more. When she takes a break from math she exercises her body by learning multiple dance routines. She claims that she will get married one day, but swears she will only adopt. She wants to spend her birthday taking a family bike ride, eating Taco Boy at our house, and going out for ice cream. Tonight before she went to bed she told me and Marcus that she has 10 seven year old kisses to give away by the time that she is eight, so that she can gain all her 8 year old kisses. This is Izzy in a nutshell. We love this beautiful, curly-haired, imaginative, empathetic, sweet darling more and more each year. We are so lucky she came into this world.
