Turning Nine!

My baby is nine. This ninth year of her life has been strange and difficult for her as a Pandemic hit and social distancing has become a thing.  This is hard for extroverts like her, but as usual, Lucy is making the best of it. She has entered 4th grade and transitioned to a new classroom, which she shares with some of her best friends, Sebastian, Eden and Myra.  She is taking "school with a mask" in stride; she says, "It's not that bad once you get used to it." Her love for animals has blossomed into a passion for zoo shows on television. It has become a family affair to watch the zoo shows, and she knows all the vets by name and remembers each animal that has been showcased. On a normal day you might find Lucy in her room with her head phones on, either listening to audio books about Ramona Quimby, or listening to a Miley Cyrus Pandora station. She might be surrounded by dirty or clean clothes on the floor, or she might be tidying up and making things just right for her.  She still asks who is coming over that day, or what the plans are.  As her love for people and conversation never ceases. Her bike is still her respite.  She often runs outside to jump on her bike and ride around the cul-de-sac. We are not sure what this next year will hold, but we know that Lucy will continue to find ways to create family game nights and family movie nights as much as possible.  She is the first to announce, "The whole families in the room!" when all four of us and the cats are in one space together.  Then she lights up with a smile.  We love our Goose and hope that this next trip around the sun is full of all the things she loves!
