the boppy fairy

So all week long we talked and prepared for the arrival of the boppy fairy. We made the box, decorated it with mermaid and fairy stickers, and Izzy was all excited.

So on Friday night before we laid down to read I brought the box up and had her put the boppies in them. She cried the whole time, while gently placing them in the box. Then she climbed into bed and cried a little bit longer. My heart broke as I watched her, but I knew that she has to do this. I asked her if she wanted to put the box downstairs and she said, "No" We read some books and every couple pages she would lose it a bit and start to cry and say she wanted her boppy.

After I left the room she cried hard for about a half an hour off and on, and then she was quiet.

The next morning she awoke to find the school bus that the boppy fairy brought her in exchange for the boppies. She LOVES the school bus, and has been asking to bring it everywhere. She has not talked about boppy since, and when people ask her where she got her bus she quietly says, "the boppy fairy."

My little peanut is growing up so fast and it sometimes makes me "a little bit sad" (as Izzy would say), but I am so proud of her and I admire her already. She is the coolest little girl I know!

well done, Liz! I know how hard this transition is for all of you, but you handle it with such affection and kindness. Good for you! Good for Izzy! Love that girl!

Way to go, Iz! Sounds like you handled it with such loving kindness, what a wonderful example of gentle parenting. Love to you all! (And your new floor looks great in the background, by the way!)
